Dazed & Confused August Issue Preview

Enigmatic 90s fashion icon Kristen McMenamy graces the cover of Dazed & Confused‘s August issue.

Artist Tierney Gearon and Dazed fashion director Karen Langley headed for the woods of upstate New York with Kristen (below) to capture her untamable attitude, a legendary model who continues to shake up the fashion world even as she turns 46.

Art photographer Roe Ethridge combines forces with senior fashion editor Katie Shillingford for a unique portfolio that reimagines seven of today’s supermodels, such as Karolina Kurkova (below) as they’ve never been seen before. Dazed also travel to Nashville to hang out with supermodel-turned-country-chanteuse Karen Elson (below), who talks creative fulfillment and life with husband Jack White, shot by artist Marlene Marino.

Karen Langley says: “During the autumn/winter shows, there was a clear trend for using established models on the runway – so for this special fashion issue of Dazed, we matched up some of the world’s greatest art photographers with the most inspiring of these supermodels. The results were amazing!”

This issue also announces some changes in the Dazed fashion department. Karen Langley has been appointed fashion director, while Katie Shillingford becomes senior fashion editor and Robbie Spencer becomes senior menswear editor.

Also in the issue, Dazed spends a day with underground filmmaker Jonas Mekas who worked with Andy Warhol and The Velvet Underground, speaks with French cinema’s grand dame Isabelle Huppert, and finds out if bass supergroup Magnetic Man will make 2010 the year that dubstep conquers the mainstream.
