In a bold global initiative the international editions of VOGUE are partnering with designers, department stores and boutiques to create Fashion’s Night Out, an evening extravaganza to be held around the world on Thursday 10th September 2009.
From London to Paris, New York to Mumbai, and Beijing to Milan, VOGUE editors, models, celebrities and retailers will gather to celebrate the fashion industry and to raise shopping spirits as they take part in their respective cities’ special events. Fashion’s Night Out is a far-reaching project intended to emphasise the creativity, pleasure and joy that fashion offers.
In London, the event is predominantly centralised in W1. Both premium fashion and high street brands will participate on Bond Street, Oxford Street, Regent Street, Mount Street, Marylebone High Street, Bruton Street, Conduit Street, as well as several stores on Sloane Street and the surrounding Knightsbridge area – participants top the 200 mark.
To celebrate the evening VOGUE’s Fashion Director Lucinda Chambers has designed a T-shirt that will be sold in aid of the charity Crisis.
The evening will start with a party at the Burberry Store hosted by Alexandra Shulman and Christopher Bailey from 6-7pm. Vogue Editors will be making appearances at stores throughout the night. There will be personal appearances in store by Jasmine and Amber Le Bon, Daisy Lowe, Jaquetta Wheeler, Pixie Geldoff, Alice Dellal, Laura Bailey, Alek Wek, Lily Cole, Christopher Bailey, Matthew Williamson, Luella Bartley, Jade Jagger, Jonathan Saunders, Roksanda Ilinic, Marios Schwab, Antonios Berardi, Richard Nicoll and others.
Rupert Sanderson will invite visitors to take part in creating the highest heeled shoe in the world, with the final product displayed in Berkeley Square and photographed by satellite the next morning. DKNY will collaborate with Bungalow 8 with live DJ’s in their Bond Street store. Topshop will create a Vogue concept store within their store. There will be exhibitions of iconic pieces at Vivienne Westwood, and an exhibition of Vogue covers at Jil Sander. Dior will have a photo shoot opportunity set up where guests can have their picture taken in new and iconic Dior pieces. There will be a competition to win a couture dress by Matthew Williamson, who will be in store and will offer shoppers the opportunity to order an exclusive bespoke dress and meet with Matthew.
At Matches, a private shopping team are hosting a ‘Style Studio’ with a panel of style gurus on hand to give advice. Jewellery designer Hannah Martin will show them the best way to accessorize their ‘Vogue t-shirt’. At Selfridges, there will be an extra-special Icecreamists collaboration including a very special black ice cream, and in the Wonder Room Concept Store, a ‘Live Art’ installation. Revlon will be working with Christian Louboutin to create a Vogue/Louboutin red varnish & give in-store pedicures on night.
Those who buy a Vogue Fashion’s Night Out T shirt will be entered into a prize draw to win a £1000 after hours shopping spree with a Selfridges Personal Shopper. At Browns British designers will take over the shop, helping with fitting rooms, gift wrapping, DJ’ing, answering questions etc. including Osman Yousefzada, Carolina Bucci, Roksanda Ilincic, Marios Schwab, Antonio Berardi, Jonathon Saunders, and William Tempest. Activities also include art installations, live music, beauty consultations, fashion shows, exhibitions, Celebrity appearances, and styling from Vogue Editors.

A member of the Vogue fashion team will also be in store giving invaluable styling tips between 7.45 and 8.30pm. The Fenwick Beauty Week is taking place the same week so a cosmetics buyer is organising extra offers and treats for that evening. In Carluccio’s there will be wine sampling and food tastings throughout the evening.
Fossil are celebrating 25 years in conjunction with Fashion’s Night Out, and will be offering customers vintage-inspired treats, as well as a gift with every purchase plus the chance to win gift certificates and a John Lennon Limited Edition guitar.
Wine will be served and possible a promotional item to sell.

M& S are going to build a fashion tent style structure featuring a catwalk which will host approx 4 catwalk shows during the evening. Entrance will be from the smaller of our Oxford St entrances which will be branded externally with a gabled style facade featuring the Vogue and M&S branding. Anyone shopping that night can queue up to attend the shows and there will be around 50 VIP customers per show seated who will have previously won special tickets via either Facebook, Twitter or other mechanics. They will also each get a goody bag and mini bottle of champagne. In between the catwalk shows they will be holding ‘workshops’ for customers about, for example styling, how to wear the new Autumn trends, lingerie master classes . celebrity DJ performing on the catwalk . ‘As Selected by Vogue’ area near Oxford Street entrance. Little Boots will be DJ-ing.

To coincide with Fashion’s Night Out, a subversive new ice cream brand will launch with an ice cream installation in the store’s Ultralounge on the lower-ground floor.
The Icecreamists have created a suitably sleek and stylish ‘Vogue’ ice cream cocktail – in the colour that never goes out of fashion, black. Designer Marissa Montgomery and friends will also be launching the Pussy Glamore AW09 collection of sexy, sophisticated underwear with an extra-special Icecreamists collaboration. Agent Provocateur will be exclusively previewing their hotly anticipated Autumn/Winter New World Order campaign. Super hero ‘Harold’ will be making an appearance at Selfridges to distribute the limited edition classic comic book catalogue and to unveil an exciting futuristic fantasy Agent Provocateur window on Oxford Street. Fashion’s Night Out activity is store-wide and in the Wonder Room Concept Store, founder of D.L. & Co, Douglas Little – ‘Modern Alchemist and Purveyor of Curious Goods’ – will be sculpting a stunning 10ft figure with molten wax as part of a ‘Live Art’ installation. Music in store will be Vogue inspired, with a DJ and live music soundtrack. Look out for the Lucinda Chambers designed ‘Vogue’s Night Out’ T-shirt on sale in the store which are bound to be a sell-out. Those who buy a T-shirt will be entered into a prize draw to win a £1000 after hours shopping spree with a Selfridges Personal Shopper.

In partnership with Jo Malone, Smythson will be inviting shoppers to enjoy a complimentary reviving hand and arm massage and a glass of champagne. Delicious Primrose Bakery ‘Vogue’ cupcakes will be served throughout the night.
The art of personalization will be brought to life with one of Smythson’s skilled gold-stampers resident in the store. Customers will have the opportunity to have a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship involved in the personalization of leather accessories with gold, silver or blind lettering.

The Topshop visual merchandising team are to design and build a VOGUE concept store within the Oxford Street branch. Champagne and canapés will be offered to all customers and DJ’s will be playing.

Customers who make a purchase during the evening will receive a 10% discount card for use on future purchases at Trilogy.

Champagne and canapés plus a preview of the unseen debut collection from the young new designer, Simon Preen.
The windows of the boutique will display the FNO logo and be designed specifically for the event. The windows will feature live models rather than mannequins modelling AW09 product. Music will be played in store and they will be serving champagne.
Beverages and Swiss chocolate will be served throughout the evening. Our guests will also have the opportunity to assemble her or his very own ‘Original Swiss Army Knife’ in the store itself! Furthermore, for no extra cost, we will offer the visitors the opportunity to personalise their Swiss Army Knife by engraving their names or any given text onto the knife.
VIVIENNE WESTWOOD (44 Conduit Street)
The boutique will have a special in-store and window display for the night and will offer customers a discount on any Vivienne Westwood shoes.
Creating a Style Studio in store just for the night. This will give people the chance to partake in their very own ‘Fashion Shoot’ with proceeds going to the Crisis Charity. They also plan to donate a % of every sale that night to the charity, also looking at putting a plasma in the store window (and DJ and drinks) so people walking past can see the shoot picks and and possibly live feeds from filming. The girls shopping that would like to have their shoot can dress up with any of the key pieces and accessories from the store.
WRIGHT & TEAGUE
Music, cocktails and an opportunity to meet the designers Gary Wright & Sheila Teague.
YSL will officially launch the ‘Roady’ Bag whilst creating a chic and Parisian feel to the store with music and cocktails. Guests will also be able to personalise their own roady with their initials.
