Topman SS 2010 Trench Coat Project
Topman announces The Trench Coat Project. The last in a series of successful projects for which Topman has invited selected designers to re-interpret a staple garment from a Man’s wardrobe.
For this concluding project Mihara Yasuhiro, Tim Soar, B Blessing and stylist Alister Mackie were asked to create their version of the perfect trench coat. Topman Design will also provide their own version.
“The last in this pioneering series and quite possibly the strongest yet. Simple elegant, desirable pieces designed by todays eminent designers . The designs all have a timeless quality to them whilst subtly reflecting each designers personality and handwriting. The only difficult thing about the range will be making the decision of which one to buy.” Gordon Richardson, Topman Design Director.
Coats will be priced between £80 and £100 and be available from the London & New York flagship stores and online at topman.com.
B BLESSING (above)
Having gained a cult following in their native New York, B BLESSING are known for their designs of classic and tailored clothing with an original twist. Their trench coat design is full length and black in colour complete with zips in place of buttons. The lining of the coat incorporates a personal poem written throughout.
TIM SOAR
Originally known for his creative expertise in music, TIM SOAR started his own clothing label in 2005. His unique and minimalist approach has been reproduced in his design for this project, an olive green nylon pac-a-mac with elasticated cuffs and sleeves and black zip on the reverse to increase the volume of the coat.

MIHARA YASUHIRO
Tokyo based designer MIHARA YASUHIRO is now a regular on the Paris Men’s Fashion Week schedule and boasts a wide range of renowned international stockists. He has designed a full length stone coloured traditional trench coat including creased sleeves and belt to give a lived in, already worn feel to the coat.

ALISTER MACKIE
London based stylist ALISTER MACKIE has worked with numerous internationally recognised photographers and has worked with the likes of Lanvin, Miu Miu and Alexander McQueen on both fashion shows and advertising campaigns. He both styles and consults for Topman and was the perfect choice for this project. He has designed a fitted three quarter length trench coat in navy blue with a belted waist, lapels, oversized collar and original paisley lining.

TOPMAN DESIGN
Designed in house, TOPMAN DESIGN complete the line up for this project. Their coat is black and grey and features a geometric pattern with buttoned funnel neck and partially concealed breast pocket with a cobalt blue lining.
