Beatrice Newman is a BA (hons) Fashion Design graduate from De Montfort University.

The opulence of Empires led Beatrice to explore the beauty of past Empires, the ceremonial dress and uniforms of Emperors and officials of the Russian Court.

The main inspiration for her final collection is taken from the last Russian Royal Family – The Tsars, and the beautiful illustrations of Edmund Dulac from storybook ‘1001 Arabian Nights’.  The rich brocade and fine craftsmanship of embroidery and quality textiles of the time inspired Beatrice to design a collection full of unique and explored textiles, embellishment and embroidery.

Beatrice was a finalist in the MaxMara design competition 2008 and FAD competition 2009.  In her final year Beatrice secured a scholarship with the Framework Knitters Guild and Roadley, which supported the knitwear development and costs of yarns and fabrics.
Beatrice now plans to continue on to an MA course in Fashion/Fashion Knitwear and would one day like to establish her own label.
