'Folding Diagrams For A Spread Squash'

Spring/Summer 2010 sees the much-anticipated Tim Soar collection take on a twist with sports-lux elements, pleating and folding, and dense texture.

In origami, a ‘Spread Squash' consists of pulling paper in (nearly) opposite directions to form a new shape within an existing base, drawing inspiration from this technique, folding, shaping and creasing are the foundations within this collection. There is a tension between the formal elements and the deliberately raw and exposed construction of the sportswear. When these two things are combined a new shape forms within an existing base.

Three-dimensional effects for this collection have been achieved in two ways; firstly by the asymmetric pleating of garments once they have made, and secondly by folding, and darting at the construction stage.

Other highlights include shirting details, summer vests in various fabrics, creped linen trousers, and lightweight tailored summer shorts.
