‘Adage’ or movement dictates the way fabric drapes and adheres to the body; a pivotal theme of this collection. Free-flowing light materials cascade, gather and twist over the undulating female form, culminating in miniscule exo-skeleton, crutch-like heels, creating the illusion of animation, mid-dance. Looking for a sense of serenity and purity, the designers looked at unusual sources for inspiration. The work of painter Michael Parks, Compagnie Marie Chouinard’s Body Remix - the Goldberg Variations and images of derelict buildings. These influences have combined to mimic the lithe, delicate fluidity created by modern dancers, artificially confined by rigid structure. By employing pioneering new technologies and high-tech materials such as Laser printed leather, they created a triumphant technical tour-de-force. Aminaka Wilmont have skilfully integrated human forms and rust inspired artwork, digitally printed and perfectly executed, on to a myriad of delicate fabrics, adding an extra aesthetic though unusual colour-way cohesion. Completing the ethereal look is Justin Smith Esquire’s extrovert Millinery. Website: |
