Sandra Backlund is a Swedish Womenswear Designer.  After graduating from Beckmans College of Design in 2004, Sandra set-up her own label.  Since then she has gone on to collaborate with Louis Vuitton, to create special knitwear pieces for the AW07/08 collection.  In January 08 Franca Sozzani of Vogue Italia chose Sandra to be her protégé for ‘The Protégé Project’, presented in Florence.

Sandra likes to experiment with different materials and techniques, expressing herself through the elaborate hand-made designs.  She enjoys the challenge of pushing the boundaries of normality, creating knitwear that takes on a life of it’s own.
Sandra always works with the human body as a starting point and finds ways in which to highlight, distort and transform the natural silhouette.  She sees herself more as a Sculptor than a Designer, building layers and shapes.
